Skelmanthorpe Community Centre is home to The HD8 Community Pantry. Run by the Denby Dale Centre, the pantry is a membership discount grocery shop that supports families and individuals who are living in hardship.

The pantry is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 10:00 to 14:00.

For more information, call in during opening hours, telephone 01484 860077 or visit www.ddc.org.uk/pantry

Cafe and Warm Space

We operate a Community Cafe every Monday and Friday between 10am and 2pm. Run entirely by volunteers, the cafe is a welcoming, friendly space serving reasonably priced drinks, snacks and light meals.

Skelmanthorpe Community Centre is proud to be part of the Warm Welcome Campaign, offering a free, warm and welcoming space to anyone in our community.

The Warm Welcome campaign exists to ensure everyone has somewhere warm and friendly to go, provided through the power of local spaces made by and for the community. The vision is to create a friendlier society, built by local communities, so everyone can thrive and knows where to turn for warmth, welcome, friendship and support.

To complement our Community Cafe, the Warm Space is available at the following times over winter months:

Monday: 10am - 2pm

Friday: 10am - 2pm

Lending Toys and Games

Thanks to support from Cllr Hannah McKerchar, using funds from Denby Dale Ward budget, we were able to purchase a range of outdoor games and a gazebo.

The games include jumbo versions of popular favourites like Jenga, Connect 4, Snakes and Ladders, Dominos and more.

The equipment is available to loan on a short term basis to schools, community and voluntary groups for a nominal charge.

For more information or to book the equipment, contact us with details of your event.
